TOEFL Exam Date Planning: Factors to Consider

Here are some considerations when planning your TOEFL Exam Date In 2023.

  1. Learn about the application deadline for the college or University you plan to apply. Every college/university comprises a specific deadline. The sooner you know about those specific application deadlines, the better.
  2. Review your current English proficiency. If you aren't unsure about your skill level, it's best not to schedule the test too soon. Give yourself sufficient time to improve your English reading, listening, writing, and speaking competencies.
  3. Also, evaluate your test familiarity and overall preparation. TOEFL exams can be tricky, especially for 1st timers. It's best to practice with many sample papers and take online mock tests to overcome test-taking hurdles on your first attempt. With extensive practice, your problem-solving skills and logical thinking skills will improve.
  4. Also, follow the test availability when planning your TOEFL exam date. While the test is conducted numerous times throughout the year, certain locations may have limited slots or none available during specific months. So, available test dates and availability at your shortlisted exam centers. Accordingly, plan and register in advance at your convenience.
  5. Finally, consider personal scheduling the TOEFL if you have prior commitments like a part-time job or family duties. Choose a date around those responsibilities. It will help you focus on the exam without any distractions.

The TOEFL is conducted throughout the year. So, there are many test dates available to pick. However, pick one that gives you ample time to prepare. 2-4 months of advanced booking should be good enough.

You visit the official TOEFL portal, click on 'view test dates' and pick the convenient slot from the available options near your location. Once you pick a slot, the site will inform you of the selected time and availability.

You can take the TOEFL exam on a particular schedule if you have time constraints. Visit the official TOEFL exam portal and reschedule your exam date through your ETS account.

There are no such limits on the number of TOEFL exam attempts. The only consideration is the compulsory 12-day waiting period from the previous exam.

You can reschedule your TOEFL exam if you find the earlier schedule inconvenient. Visit the official TOEFL website and reschedule your test date via your official account.

You will have to pay a rescheduling cost of $60 before registering for another test date.

You should register 2-4 months before the TOEFL earliest application deadline. Doing so will give you ample time to prepare for the test and build self-confidence.

It takes 4-8 days post the TOEFL test schedule. The iBT home edition takes 4-8 working days (post the TOEFL), and the iBT paper edition takes 11-13 working days (post the TOEFL).

Of course, you can view your TOEFL score via your ETS account 6 days post your TOEFL test date. You will receive an email in your official exam account when the scores become available.

Picking the right exam date is important too. So, when scheduling your TOEFL exam, choose one 2-3 months before the earliest admission. We recommend selecting the TOEFL date at the end of June or early July.
