How to Register For GMAT Online?

The GMAT is conducted throughout the year. So, your GMAT exam registration can be completed anytime once you are prepared thoroughly. GMAC recommends completing the registration two to three months before your preferred date of the exam. It is also possible to do so up to six months in advance. The earlier you register for the GMAT, the better. Spots tend to fill up fast. Hence, you should sign up early, as you can choose your preferred test date, location, and time of the day.

Now, there exist four ways to register for the GMAT – online, by phone, by fax, or by mail. A huge number of students prefer signing up online, as it is a relatively fast way of going through the process. Additionally, you can sign in to your GMAT account about 20 days after you take the test to look at your official score report.

After 48 hours, you can log back into the website to check if your account has been verified. Once that is done, you will schedule your appointment.   • There is no official eligibility regarding the language criteria for GMAT applicants. Test takers who did not have English as their first language or medium of instruction are eligible to take the exam. But, one needs to have language proficiency as the exam is conducted in the English language.
  • The GMAT doesn't have any minimum or maximum work experience requirement. An applicant can be an industry expert or a fresher.

Applicants can pay the GMAT exam fees through debit or credit cards that allow international transactions. Such cards are American Express, Visa, MasterCard, or JCB. However, you need to keep in mind a few things listed below –

If an applicant pays GMAT exam fees through a check, money orders, or personal check, you need to keep a few of the following details in mind –

GMAT: How to Select the Test Centre and Find Availabilities?

GMAC highly recommends signing up for the GMAT test and completing the GMAT exam slot booking as soon as possible. This is because applicants will get the freedom to choose their desired location in the country and any time of the year that works best for them.

Locating Test Centres

While registering for the GMAT, you can always look for a test centre nearby, inputting your address, zip code, or state and city. When you use an address or zip code, you can pull up just those test centres that are closest to you. But, when searching for something more general, like simply your city, you will be provided with a diverse range of choices.

After inputting the location, a map of the nearest test centre locations will appear. Then, you can closely examine the test centers' general location on the map. Not only that, you will be able to see more specific details like name, address, and distance from the address you provided in the left-hand column. You can choose up to three locations that you wish to compare and hit on 'Next' .Then, you can book the slots by making the payment and filling out other essential details as required.

Exam Dates and Availability

Once you are done choosing the test centres you desire to compare, you can see the availabilities. Days with available appointments for each test centre will be highlighted in green on the calendar. If you choose a specific day, the window will expand to show the available start times.

It is essential to check the available exam dates and start times for all the GMAT locations you have chosen since the options can vary hugely. For instance, certain test centres may only have early morning start times, while others could offer mainly evening slots. Consider what will make the most sense for your schedule and strengths, and choose accordingly.

GMAT Test Centre Policies and Regulations

The below-enlisted test centre rules and regulations are set by the GMAC, and you need to strictly adhere to them –

  1. Carry a valid, GMAT-approved photo ID to be admitted to the test centre
  2. Your signature, scan of biometric palm vein, and photograph will be recorded digitally, followed by an audio or video recording in the test room,
  3. Before the exam commences, you will need to accept the GMAT non-disclosure agreement and general terms of use digitally.
  4. The test starts as soon as you're seated at the assigned workstation. You will get, on g average, three years and 8 minutes inclusive of breaks to complete the test.
  5. You will get two 8-minute optional breaks scheduled during the exam. If your breaks exceed the time limit, the excess time will get automatically deducted from the time allocated next to you to complete the next segment of the test.
  6. All premises of the test centres will be monitored by CCTV or other monitoring systems.
  7. When you are taking a break, it is necessary to remain within the test centre and be near the test room. This policy can vary based on the test centre.
  8. Once the exam ends, you will be asked a series of questions about your demographics, background, graduate school preferences, and whether you would like to participate in surveys.
  9. You are not allowed to use any kinds of testing aids like pens, calculators, pagers, watch calculators, books, notes, cheat sheets, blank paper sheets, radios, rules, mobile, personal data assistants, and any other digital or photographic devices during the test and even during the breaks.
  10. The test administration will give you a booklet of five note-boards. You must never remove the notebooks from the testing room during the exam or even after it. Return them to the administrator after the test.
  11. Do not talk with anyone during the GMAT exam or the optional breaks.
  12. You are not allowed to consume any kinds of snacks or beverages in the exam room.
  13. You are strictly not allowed to smoke or use any kinds of products that have tobacco while you are in the exam centre and till you exit the centre.
  14. Any non-adherence to rules concerning the test centre gives the administrator the liberty to decline entrance into the exam room to continue the exam.
  15. You must never speak up without the permission of the test centre administrator, as this can disturb other applicants.

Any violation of these rules and regulations may lead to a minimum 31-day ban on writing the exam, scores being withheld or canceled, informing business schools of the same, forfeiting test fees, and may result in a ban on testing for up to three years.

What are the Rescheduling and Cancellation Policies for the GMAT Exam?

How to Arrange GMAT Exam Accommodations?

To make sure that the GMAT is fair for all applicants, GMAC offers certain provisions for people with special needs or health-related needs. If you think you may require accommodations on the exam day, you may have questions about how to get them and the approval process and timelines.

Requesting Accommodations

Before you request accommodations, it is crucial to remember that GMAC has 5 categories of disabilities for which it offers accommodations. These are – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning and Cognitive Disorders, Psychological Disabilities, Physical and Systematic Disabilities, and Sensory Disabilities (Hearing and Vision).

Now to request accommodations, you need to implement the below-implemented steps –

  • Create a GMAT profile on MBA.com. But do not register for the GMAT exam appointment until you receive the decision on the accommodation.
  • Go through the GMAT Handbook and the Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities.
  • Complete the GMAT exam accommodation request form incorporated on pages 6-10 of the supplement.  
  • Provide documentation for the above-mentioned category of disabilities.
  • Send your completed GMAT exam accommodation request form and all supporting documentation to the fax number or one of the addresses below. Accommodation requests that are submitted by email will not be accepted.

Documentation Requirements

One of the main documents you will be required to submit with your application is the GMAT test accommodation request form. On that form, you will be required to provide basic contact info, info about the nature of your disability, and info about any previous accommodations you’ve received in school, from employers, or on standardized exams.

You will also be required to write a statement known as the 'accommodations rationale .'Here, you will need to describe in your own words the ways your disability will impact your capacity to take the GMAT and describe why you require the accommodation you are requesting.

Along with the request form, you will be required to submit all of the documentation needed for your specific type of disability, with the inclusion of any required documentation from your healthcare provider.

Each of the 5 disability categories of GMAC outlines has its documentation requirements.
